Restore an antique hand plane

We do not own antique hand tools. We are mere custodians of them. Using them nurtures a sense of purpose and meaning, while also enabling us to put our own lives into perspective. Making things with antique tools allow us to connect with previous generations as we reflect on who has used them previously and what else has been made with them.

Join us for special one off workshop where everyone gets to restore an antique smoothing plane. On the way, we’ll identify makers marks, wear patterns and reflect on the names/initials of previous owners. We’ll restore them to a good state, sharpen and tune then, all while respecting and preserving their history.

At the end of the day, you’ll stamp your own initials on it, take it home and start your own chapter of custodianship.

This free workshop is free for veterans and current/former first responders.
